Navigating the reality of running a business, making positive choices, and staying resilient while witnessing global collapse.

How do you talk about food when the world is this chaotic? I realized that remaining frozen doesn't help anyone. The systems we live under rely on us being too exhausted and chronically ill to push back. Wondering what a new UK national security assessment has to do with your diet? I cover it all in my new blog post. If you want the stamina to handle what's happening right now, you gotta look at what's on your plate.

The Bigger Picture

climate and food, ecosystem collapse, food security

For the first year and a half after launching Positively Devine, I barely posted anything about it at all. Every day I was logging on and seeing images of people being bombed and massacred. I was watching entire populations being deliberately starved. Between the political theater of our corporate red and blue parties, the deafening silence of friends and family, the sheer denial and even outright mockery, and the crushing reality of global events, it just felt so wrong.

How could I possibly post about starting a nutrition business? I would see posts from random influencers and in my head, I would scream, “WHO GIVES A FLYING F?!?” Like seriously I don’t want to hear about your fast fashion haul when I’m being bombarded with images and videos of blown up children in Palestine, 3 year old children digging for minerals with their bare hands in the Congo, or reading articles about women tying rocks to their feet to purposely drown themselves in Sudan to avoid mass SA from happening to themselves and their daughters.

I understand that we all exist under capitalism and we all need to work to make a living. I respect that regular people have to pay their rent in whatever way they can, but it's all just so incredibly hard to navigate, right? How do you make your brain make sense of all of this at the same time? But I noticed that I felt comfortable supporting people whose accounts did both. They shared their outrage over what's happening around the globe, but they also ran a business or just shared their personal lives. Because that's our reality. We have to witness the horror, and despite all that, we still have to work, eat, wash the dishes, and pay the bills.

My nervous system was a complete wreck during that time, and yeah it definitely still is. I’m workin’ on it, I’m really trying over here! But witnessing the daily violence and the media censorship left me frozen. It felt impossible to talk about recipes, functional blood chemistry, and genetics when people are literally fighting for their lives.

But remaining frozen doesn't help anyone. I had to remind myself that a population that's exhausted, chronically ill, and living paycheck to paycheck is much easier to control. The corrupt systems we live under are functioning exactly as designed. They're designed to extract profit and keep us apathetic. They rely on us being too tired to push back …like at all. Like even too tired to even show up to local school board meetings to defend our own kids. They want us too exhausted to fight, too scared to speak our minds, and completely convinced that nothing will change either way because the system is just going to do what it wants. They depend on that exhaustion so you don't have the energy to question where your tax dollars are going or if/why the food you eat is making you sick.

I focus on nutrition and whole-body health because they're the few things we can still control. I'm not here to help you get "beach ready." I'm here because you need the energy to handle the stress of this chaotic reality we live in. You need to make positive choices to stay out of the profit-driven medical system and avoid getting trapped in its symptom/disease management loop …okay, and maybe you can get that beach bod too! We all need to stay strong and making those positive choices, and that all starts with what's on your fork.

How Big Ag is bankrupting our planet's resources

We need to move past the idea that plant-based eating is just a lifestyle choice. A new UK national security assessment warned that global biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse are no longer just environmental concerns. They're direct threats to food security, economic stability, and global safety. The report states that every major ecosystem on Earth is degrading, and some could begin collapsing as early as 2030.

When ecosystems fail, the entire system of growing food falls apart. We rely on healthy topsoil and thriving pollinator populations to grow enough crops to feed the world, and both are rapidly deteriorating. We'd also lose the natural biological processes that stabilize our weather.

Without massive forests generating rainfall and wetlands mitigating floods, we face unpredictable weather extremes. On top of all this, ecosystem collapse degrades the earth's ability to filter and supply fresh water. This chain reaction will result in higher food prices, dramatic food shortages, violent conflict, mass migration, and an increased disease risk worldwide. The report is blunt about Big Ag being at the center of this crisis. Large-scale food production is identified as the single biggest driver of biodiversity loss. Current global animal-heavy diets require more land, water, fertilizer, and imported inputs than our ecosystems can sustain.

When you look at the stats of how our food is produced, the reality of the destruction is truly frightening. We're trading the future of the planet for momentary convenience.

  • The palm oil crisis: Palm oil is found in nearly half of all packaged foods in the store. To produce it, corporations are aggressively clearing enormous swaths of rainforests. On top of pushing species like the orangutan to the brink of extinction, it also involves violently displacing Indigenous populations from their ancestral lands to clear space for profitable plantations.

  • Imperial resource control: As resources dwindle, Western powers are doing what they do best. They're using force, violence, and economic strangulation to control other nations. Look at what the United States is doing to Cuba as we speak. Through decades of severe economic embargoes and sanctions, they've intentionally created artificial scarcity, and now blocking all attempts of humanitarian aid from entering, punishing the Cuban people simply for existing outside of Western control. With no fuel, millions will starve and disease will soon set in as all sanitation treatment plants can no longer operate. Right in front of our eyes. And with our tax dollars on top of it! This goes way beyond frustration. I feel an extreme deep-seated outrage watching powerful nations crush vulnerable populations for political leverage and greed.

  • Deforestation for meat: The Amazon rainforest isn't being cleared for tofu. The vast majority of deforestation in the Amazon is driven by the beef industry, either for direct cattle grazing or to grow massive monocrops of corn and soy that are shipped overseas exclusively for the purpose of feeding livestock.

What the data says about what goes on your fork

When ecosystems fail, food production drops. Countries compete for remaining resources, and nations that rely heavily on imports become especially vulnerable to rising prices and disrupted supply chains.

From a food security perspective, this makes a whole food plant-based diet a practical, realistic response, not just some lifestyle trend. Producing food directly for people (like beans, lentils, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits) requires far fewer resources than feeding crops to animals first.

  • Growing plants directly for humans uses a fraction of the land compared to livestock, since animal agriculture requires massive acreage for grazing plus even more land to grow the feed for CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations).

  • Cycling crops through animals is a massive waste of food. We lose up to 90% of the original plant calories and protein during the conversion process.

  • Plant-based farming severely cuts down on water pollution by eliminating the massive, toxic manure lagoons and agricultural runoff that destroy our rivers and oceans.

We currently slaughter approximately 92,000,000,000 (that's nearly 100 BILLION) land animals each year to feed a human population of just 8.1 billion. Shockingly, that number doesn't even include fish or other sea creatures humans consume. It's a spectacularly inefficient and violent system to say the least.

In a world facing absolute ecological limits, plant-based food systems can feed more people using significantly less land and water. It reduces the immense pressure on forests, freshwater systems, and soils that are already desperately nearing collapse. The UK report’s conclusion is clear. Protecting ecosystems and changing how we produce food now, is cheaper, faster, and much more reliable than trying to fix the damage after the collapse occurs.

Step onto the life raft

The world is stressful enough without a diet that adds systemic inflammation, chronic fatigue, and heavy brain fog to the mix. The Standard American (SAD) Diet is a sinking ship. You can stay on board with the masses, or you can step onto the life raft of plant-based eating and remove a huge source of physical stress from your body.

Navigating this reality is incredibly isolating. It feels like we're all just sitting in our own homes, angry, frustrated, and deeply discouraged by the atrocities happening globally. We wanna speak out and show up, but it's hard to do that when you're physically running on empty. It's incredibly difficult to fight for change when you're weighed down by constant digestive issues, unexplained numbness and tingling, or a fatigue so deep that just getting through the workday feels like an absolute marathon.

Living like this isn't sustainable, and it doesn't have to be your permanent baseline. Imagine waking up and having the stamina to get through the day without crashing. Imagine the brain fog lifting so you can think clearly again. There's a profound power in looking at your plate and knowing that your food choices are actively healing your gut, balancing your hormones, and giving you your life back, all while knowing you are doing your part to divest from the destruction of the planet and the displacement of vulnerable communities.

You deserve to feel your absolute best. You need the energy to enjoy your life, hold your ground, and keep fighting for the things you care about, even when the daily news cycle is doing everything it can to break your spirit. Reclaiming that energy starts with making positive choices, removing the oil and the animal products, and giving your body the fuel it needs to thrive.

To help you lay down that foundation, my Positive Journeys packages are designed to look past the surface, mapping out your unique biomarkers so we can target your fatigue, gut issues, and stuck weight, from the inside out.
